Chan Wu Culture, Spreads Far Abroad

    禅文化根植于中华沃土，博大精深。千百年来，禅文化对社会各个层面有着日益广泛的渗透，禅文化是中华文化大观园的一朵奇葩。禅武文化是中华禅文化的重要构成，对经济生活、文化生活产生了深远影响，因而成为中华文化的符号之一。

    Chan culture is extensive and profound which rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese culture. For thousands of years, Chan culture as a wonder of the glorious Chinese culture, has the increasing penetration of all levels of society. Chan Wu culture is an important component of Chinese Chan culture, which has a profound impact on economic and cultural  life, thus become one of the symbols of Chinese culture.

    禅武文化是中华民族优秀的传统文化。历经1500多年的传承，以禅修心本，以武强体魄，静极生动，动极复禅，始终追求和谐圆融，禅武合一的思想。

    Chan Wu culture is the outstanding traditional culture of Chinese nation. After 1500 years inheritance, with the idea of cultivating the mind with Chan and exercising the body with Wu, ”move” will come when “still” reach its maximum and then restore “Chan”, always pursuing harmony and the syncretism between “Chan” and “Wu”.

    禅武精神是和谐与奋进，禅的核心是和谐，武的内涵是奋进。禅超越宗教，是觉悟了的生活态度，是东方智慧。把禅武文化挖掘整理、创新发展，成就更高的意境，是要把传承南粤优秀文化与建设广东文化强省相结合。禅武中心是演绎和传播中华文化平台，服务的主要对象是海外侨胞。

    Chan Wu spirit is harmony and progress. The core of Chan is harmony, the connotation of Wu is progress. Chan is a enlightened attitude towards life which beyond religion, and it’s the oriental wisdom. Carrying out excavation and innovative development of Chan Wu culture, then achieving a higher artistic conception, in order to combine the inheritance of the outstanding Guangdong culture and the construction of cultural powerhouse. Chan Wu Center is a platform to deductive and inherit the tradition of Chinese culture which mainly serves the overseas Chinese.

    广东禅武文化历史底蕴深厚。广东是初祖达摩祖师西来的第一站，广州现有达摩初祖的华林寺，六祖慧能祖师在广东创立了南禅并在此弘法37年，成为中国禅文化最具影响力的祖师，六祖文化是岭南十大文化名片之一；广东武学积淀厚重，咏春、洪拳、蔡李佛拳等在海外侨胞中具有相当影响力，李小龙、黄飞鸿、洪熙官、叶问等这些武林标杆性的人物，祖籍都在广东。禅武中心将结合运用六祖禅文化和南粤武学精髓，去打造中国气派、广东风格、南粤特色的禅武文化。

    Chan Wu culture has a long history in Guangdong province. Dharma is the primary ancestor of Chinese Buddhism, the first stop of his westward journey is Guangdong province. Master Huineng as the sixth patriarch of Chan established south Chan in Guangdong and promoted it for 37 years, thus became the most influential ancestor of Chinese Chan. Sixth progenitor Chan culture is one of the top ten cultural cards of Lingnan area. Martial arts in Guangdong province has a long history, Wing Chun, Hung Kuen and Choy Lee Fut, etc. are quite influential in the overseas Chinese. Some masters of Kung Fu such as Bruce Lee, Wong Feihung, Hung Heigun, Ip Man and so on, their ancestral home is in Guangdong province. Chan Wu Center will combine using Sixth progenitor Chan culture with the essence of Guangdong martial arts, to build the Chan Wu culture that bears Chinese ethos and Guangdong style.  

    禅武中心山门对联“修心本默耕耘静观竹苞松茂，强身技苦砥砺笑对冬雪夏阳”，是讲平和我们的心态，提高我们的素养。修心本默耕耘要求我们提高思想素养，默默奉献，静观竹苞松茂是指要包容大度，虽桃李满天下，也平常心待之；强身技苦砥砺是要磨练自身，不畏艰难，笑对冬雪夏阳是虽苦尤甜，走出困境。

    “Cultivate mind, work hard, return to nature. Exercise body, self motivate, receive challenges.” is a couplet on the “Chan Wu” gate. Specifically, it means that we should have a balanced mood in life and be dedicated, also we must improve our ideological quality, then find the way out of trouble.

    和谐奋进是中国优秀传统文化的思想精髓，中华民族和为贵的处世哲学思想，通过华裔青年传递到世界各地主流社会，与世界各族群表达中华民族共创和谐世界的美好愿望，这是禅武中心不懈的追求。

    Harmony and progress are the essence of Chinese excellent traditional culture. Prioritizing harmony is the Chinese nation’s philosophy of life. Spread this idea to the mainstream society around the world through overseas Chinese youth, then express good wishes of Chinese nation to create a harmonious world. This is the relentless pursuit of Chan Wu Center.
